Our PEG course covers the function and indicators for the use of PEG feeding, necessary care skills, associated dangers, HIQUA guidance on intimate care, and your role in infection control. Participants learn about PEG feeding, its purpose, equipment, and administration of medication. Upon completion, healthcare professionals are equipped to provide safe and effective care to individuals requiring PEG feeding.

Who should complete?

The PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) workshop is suitable for healthcare professionals who are involved in the care and management of individuals requiring PEG. This includes nurses, caregivers, and allied health professionals working in hospitals, nursing homes, home care settings, and other healthcare facilities.

Entry Requirements

To access programmes leading to this award the learner should have reached the standards of knowledge, skill and competence associated with the preceding level of the National Framework of Qualifications. This may have been achieved through a formal qualification or through relevant life and work experience.

Ideally a minimum of Level 4 certificate standard of education and a strong interest in the provision of quality care in a healthcare setting.

Proficiency in written and spoken English, along with computer literacy skills, is crucial. Students enrolling in Level 5 courses are expected to exhibit proficiency in reading, drafting, preparing, and comprehending information on various topics. Basic IT skills and access to necessary equipment such as a computer, broadband, email, Microsoft Office, and recording equipment are necessary for skills demonstration tasks. Additionally, learners must be capable of self-directed study as this course is delivered through blended learning.

Upon successfully finishing the PEG Workshop, participants will receive a Barrow Consultancy & Training Certificate valid for two years.

All fees for registration and certification are included in the workshop cost.

Our workshops are delivered thorough blended learning, removing the necessity for in-person lectures. Learners are granted a 30-day timeframe to complete a workshop, beginning on any Monday or Thursday.

Upon enrolment, learners will receive login credentials to access module materials at their convenience.

This workshop includes a practical component that must be completed during our skills demonstration days, held monthly at our office located in Unit 10, Enterprise House, O’Brien Road, Co. Carlow.
