The purpose of this module is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills, and competence relevant to the theory and practice of the developing child while working autonomously and with all stakeholders in the ELC sector.

Who Should Complete?

This module is mandatory for anyone completing the Major Award in Early Learning and Care QQI Level 6.  

Entry Requirements

To access programmes leading to this award the learner should have reached the standards of knowledge, skill and competence associated with the preceding level of the National Framework of Qualifications. This may have been achieved through a formal qualification or through relevant life and work experience.

In order for learners to complete the Early Leaning and Care Major Award at QQI Level 6, they must have successfully completed the Early Leaning and Care Major Award at QQI Level 5.

Proficiency in written and spoken English, along with computer literacy skills, is crucial. Students enrolling in Level 5 courses are expected to exhibit proficiency in reading, drafting, preparing, and comprehending information on various topics. Basic IT skills and access to necessary equipment such as a computer, broadband, email, Microsoft Office, and recording equipment are necessary for skills demonstration tasks. Additionally, learners must be capable of self-directed study as this course is delivered through blended learning.

Progression

Upon completing the Early Learning and Care QQI Level 6 Major Award, learners become eligible to advance to higher education, including Level 7 and Level 8 programmes.

 

To achieve the Major Award in Early Learning and Care QQI Level 6, a learner must complete all six mandatory modules. There are no individual certificates for each module within the Early Learning and Care QQI Level 5 programme. QQI will issue the overall Major Award upon completion of the entire programme.

QQI (Quality & Qualifications Ireland) serves as the national accrediting body for further education and training in Ireland. Barrow Consultancy & Training is duly registered with QQI to provide programmes leading to QQI awards within the National Framework of Qualifications in Ireland.
