Training Needs Identification & Design QQI Level 6


The purpose of Training Needs Identification and Design QQI Level 6 (6N3325) is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to identify training and development needs at an organisation and or individual level, to devise a training plan and to explore the scope of training and development design to meet those needs.

Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course, learners must meet the standards of knowledge, skills, and competence associated with the preceding level of the National Framework of Qualifications.

Ideally a minimum of Level 5 certificate standard of education or base qualification on which to use the training qualification.

Proficiency in written and spoken English, as well as computer literacy skills, are essential. Students undertaking Level 6 courses are expected to demonstrate proficiency in reading, drafting, preparing, and comprehending information across various topics. Basic IT skills and access to necessary equipment such as a computer, broadband, email, Microsoft Office, and recording equipment are required for skills demonstration tasks. Additionally, learners must be capable of self-directed study as this course is delivered through blended learning.


Successful completion of this component award enables the learner to transfer to programmes leading to other certificates where this component is a mandatory or an elective requirement.

Upon successful completion, learners can progress to Training Delivery and Evaluation (6N3326) to receive the Special Purpose Award in Training & Development (6S3372) or to relevant Level 7 components.

Upon successful completion of the course, learners will be awarded a QQI Component Certificate in Training Needs Identification and Design Level 6 (6N3325)

To achieve the Special Purpose Award in Training & Development (6S3372), both Training Needs Identification and Design (6N3325) and Training Delivery and Evaluation (6N3326) must be completed.
