Who should complete?
Care Support (5N0758) is designed for individuals who are pursuing or currently working in roles that involve providing support and assistance to individuals in need of care. This Module is suitable for healthcare assistants, nursing aides, personal care assistants, home care workers, and others working in residential care facilities, community care settings, or home care environments. Additionally, individuals who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills in providing care and support to others, such as family caregivers or volunteers, can also benefit from completing this module.
Entry Requirements
To access programmes leading to this award the learner should have reached the standards of knowledge, skill and competence associated with the preceding level of the National Framework of Qualifications. This may have been achieved through a formal qualification or through relevant life and work experience.
Ideally a minimum of Level 4 certificate standard of education and a strong interest in the provision of quality care in a healthcare setting.
Proficiency in written and spoken English, as well as computer literacy skills, are essential. Students undertaking Level 6 module s are expected to demonstrate proficiency in reading, drafting, preparing, and comprehending information across various topics. Basic IT skills and access to necessary equipment such as a computer, broadband, email, Microsoft Office, and recording equipment are required for skills demonstration tasks. Additionally, learners must be capable of self-directed study as this Module is delivered through blended learning.
Progression
Successful completion of Care Support (5N0758) enables the learner to transfer to programmes leading to other certificates where this component is a mandatory or an elective requirement.
Care Support (5N0758) is a mandatory module to achieve the Healthcare Support Level 5 – 5M4339 Major Award.
Upon successful completion of the module, learners will be awarded a QQI minor component Award in Care Support (5N0758).
